Every year, I become a member of something. For example, member of Kew Gardens, member of Tate Modern etc. Although, I do not think I have been able to use my various memberships very effectively every time. I often visit other museums or galleries because I am attracted by the exhibits. Recently, one of my students recommended about the National Art Pass which gives the cardholder access many museums, galleries and some historic houses. Some places are free to enter and the admission to major exhibitions is 50% off. Although the UK still offers free admission to many museums and galleries, tickets to special exhibitions are becoming more expensive every year. So, I plan to use this pass to enjoy various exhibitions this year. Especially, I am looking forward to the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition at the British Museum this summer.

毎年、どこかの会員になっています。例えば、キュー庭園の会員とか、テート・モダンの会員などです。とは言うものの、毎回それらの会員権を有効に活用しているとは思えません。結局、展示物に惹かれて他の美術館やギャラリーを訪れることがよくあります。最近、生徒さんの一人から、会員になると多くの博物館、美術館、そして歴史的な建造物に入場可能なナショナル・アート・パスを勧められました。いくつかの所は無料で入場でき、特別展の入場料は５０％割引になります。英国では多くの博物館や美術館にいまだに無料で入場できるとは言うものの、特別展の入場料は年々値上がりしてきています。と言うことで、今年はこのパスを使って様々な展覧会を楽しもうと考えています。特にこの夏、大英博物館で行われる「バイユーのタペストリー」展は今から楽しみにしています。
