Wimbledon

The flower arrangement on the concourse at The Grounds, Wimbledon

The Wimbledon Tennis Championship was held from the 1st to 14th of July this year. The men’s single on the last day was an exciting game, being nearly five hours long.
I am not a particular tennis fan, however when I was young I learned and played tennis. So, I have some interest in the Wimbledon Championship since I have moved to the South West of London. I am still not sure how the system works to get the tickets. According to my friend’s information, there are tickets that called 'ground tickets' that are reasonable priced. If you have this ticket you can enter the Wimbledon tennis ground and can watch various games, there are 18 courts in the ground. However, it is necessary to get the another ticket if you would like to watch the games on the Center Court and number1,2 and 3, courts. These tickets are not easy to get but fortunately my friend was able to get tickets for us to watch the game at No.2 court on Saturday the 6th of July.
As a spectator it was perfect weather, being mild with a soft breeze and alternately sunshine and cloud.
First, I was surprised that the inside of the ground are full of green and purple flowers which is the logo colour of Wimbledon championship. It was highly organised and well presented place. Perhaps, as it was still early stage of the tournaments, the whole atmosphere was very nice and relaxed.
We watched the game of women’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. One of the men’s doubles player was Andy Murray, unfortunately he and his partner lost the game. Then we went to the Junior tournaments that featured Shintaro Mochizuki (he is Japanese) though we did not realise it, he won the Junior’s title on that day.
