I
have written about Christmas Cards sent from here in the previous
post (Please see the December 2012 blog). This time I would like to
introduce the cards that I have received for Christmas. In UK, there
are several specialty card shops and it is customary to send cards
for Christmas, birthdays and other special anniversaries and
exchanging cards is still popular even in this digital age.
Fortunately, I have received a variety of cards from my students and
friends. Some people send me cards they have made themselves, hand
drawn calligraphy, linocut printing, original printing and paper
onlays etc. These cards form part of the Christmas decorations in my
studio. I am not only one who decorates Christmas cards, I often see
them decorated in various ways at the homes of my relatives and
friends. In my case, I display the cards by attaching them to the
door using Blu-Tack. There are trends from year to year, one year
there were a lot of pop-up cards and three dimensional cards. This
year it seemed like there were a lot of cards with a Christmas tree
motif.
以前、こちらから送るクリスマスカードについてはこのブログで書いたことがあります。（2012年12月のブログをご参照ください）今回はクリスマスに私が受け取るカードについてご紹介したいと思います。イギリスでは多くのカード専門店があります。クリスマスやお誕生日その他の記念日にカードを送る習慣があり、デジタル時代においてもカードの交換はいまだに人気があります。幸いにも私は生徒さんや友人から様々なカードをいただいており、何人かの方は、手書きのカリグラフィー、リノカット印刷、オリジナルの印刷や紙を使ったオンレイなど、ご自分で制作されたカードを送ってくださいます。それらのカードは私のスタジオのクリスマスの飾りにもなっています。クリスマスカードを飾るのは私一人に限ったことではなく、親戚や友人の家でも様々な形で飾られているのをよく見かけます。私の場合は、ブルータックを使いカードをドアに付けて飾っています。年によって傾向があり、ポップアップカードや立体的なカードが多かった年もありました。今年はクリスマスツリーをモチーフにしたカードが多かったように思いました。
