Designer Bookbinders organised an online summer exhibition “ABC – Art, Book, Craft – ” this year.
It is the first online exhibition for DB with 14 Fellows and Licentiates submitting work for the exhibition. The private view was on the 10th of August, opening for the DB members the following day. Finally the exhibition has opened to the public from Friday the 14th of August. Please see the site as below.

I submitted a miniature book for the online exhibition using the same text block as I did for the International Miniature Competition 2017. (Please see the November 2017 blog in this site)
I had three copies of the text block, the first two books were bound at the same time with identical designs. I attempted the third book is the reverse of the previous two. The endpaper design becoming the cover design and the cover design becoming the endpaper design.
Design elements of the third book is the state for cleaning the island which is same as the previous two books. The cover of the previous binding is abstract design with onlays representing the long line of vehicles seen from above. The endpapers suggest the sight of bulldozers flattening the island which are recognisably realistic shape. The third book is inside out that the realistic shape onlays cover with the abstract design endpapers.
今年、デザイナー・ブックバインダーズは夏のオンライン展覧会「ABC展—アート、ブック、クラフトー」を計画しました。DBにとって初めてのオンライン展覧会で、14名の正会員と準正会員がこの展覧会に作品を出品しました。８月１０日に内見会があり、その翌日にはDBの会員に開催されました。そして、８月１４日の金曜日から一般に公開されています。どうぞ上記のサイトをご覧ください。
私は2017年の国際ミニチュア・コンペティションと同じ本文で作ったミニチュア本をこのオンライン展覧会に出品しました。（このコンペティションに関してはこのブログの2017年11月をご覧ください）
私はこの本の本文を３冊持っていて、初めの２冊は同時期に同じデザインで製本しました。それで３冊目は前の２冊の本と裏表を逆に作ることを試み、見返しのデザインを表紙のデザインに、表紙のデサインを見返しのデザインとすることにしました。
３冊目の本のデザインの要素は前２冊と同じく、島を清掃する話の場面からきています。前回の表紙のデザインは上空から眺めた長い車の列を抽象的に表しています。見返しは島をブルドーザーで平らにしているところを見分けがつく程度写実的な形で示しています。３冊目はその裏返しで写実的な形を表紙のオンレイにして抽象的デザインの見返しにしています。
