The Victorian Album (before restoration)

Just before the Christmas, I was asked to repair a Victorian Album.

Usually, people ask for restoration work at this time of year. Restoration work has many variations. The small work for example, detached boards and spines, damaged endpapers, board corner dented etc.

This Victorian Album was a relatively big job. It had been already repaired once, unfortunately it used very weak leather and the structure was not good enough for this sort of heavy board book. I made the restoration report for this book, sometimes it will helps the client understand what is involved for the restoration of their book and is a good record for me as well. As below, the itemized contents of my report.

クリスマスのちょっと前にヴィクトリアン・アルバムの修復の依頼がありました。

普通この時期に修復を頼まれます。修復の仕事は様々で、簡単なものでは表紙ボードが

とれてしまったものとか、見返しが破れていたり、表紙の角が傷んでいたりなどです。

このヴィクトリアン・アルバムは比較的大きな仕事でした。既に１回修復されていたのですが、残念ながらこれを直した人はふさわしくない革を使い、本の作りもこのように重いボードを使用している本には不十分な構造でした。

この本には、修復のレポートを作りました。これは、依頼主に本がどのように修復されたかを理解してもらう助けにもなり（特に内部構造の直しは見えないので）また自分の記録としても役立ちます。下記が、レポートの項目です。
