The
Man Booker Prize for fiction is a literary prize awarded each year and it is
quite big event in UK. This year the 6 short list books were announced on the 15th of September with the award winner to be announced
on the 13th of October. The
winner of the Man Booker Prize receives prize money and, like all the
shortlisted authors, a cheque for prize money and a designer bound copy of
their book. Six Fellows of the Designer Bookbinders are involved to make a
binding on each of the author’s own book.
This
year, I am making one of the short listed books.
It
is a big challenge for me to make a fine binding in
such a short time (one month !).

ブッカー賞は優れた小説に与えられるイギリスの文学賞で、大きなイベントとして毎年おこなわれています。
今年は９月１５日に最終候補の６冊の作品が発表されました。１０月１３日には賞の受賞作品が発表されます。
受賞作家には賞金が授与され、最終候補６名の作家にも賞金とそれぞれの本を特別に装丁した作品が授与されます。
デザイナー・ブックバインダーズの６名の正会員がその制作に関わっており、今年は私もその候補者の一冊を製本します。こんな短期間（わずか一ヶ月）で特別装丁本を制作しなければならないのは私にとって大きな課題です。
さて、私は６冊の候補作品のどの本を制作するのでしょうか。上の写真がヒントです。
