' Stone ' Exhibition banner. The Craft Council Gallery, London
From the 15th of March to the 15th of April, the exhibition 'Stone' was held at the Craft Council Gallery in London. 'Stone' is an exhibition of ten design bindings by the late Faith Shannon who was a Fellow and Honorary Fellow of Designer Bookbinders.
The series 'Stone' is the final and long time project by Faith. Ten books were displayed in the main Gallery with her notes and some experimental works being displayed in an adjacent room.
I remember, when I first saw her work when I was a student at Guildford College, that I was surprised about her free idea for the book design. Thereafter, I met her a couple of times and talked at some DB events. It was rare at an opportunity to meet as Faith lived on the West Cost of Scotland.
The Craft Council has recently undergone renovation work, the gallery space along with workshop space area are very nice. The Craft Council has invited Designer Bookbinders to have three exhibitions in their gallery space with 'Stone' being the first.

３月１５日から４月１５日まで、ロンドンのクラフト・カウンシルのギャラリーで「ストーン」展が開催されていました。「ストーン」展はデザイナー・ブックバインダーズの正会員、名誉会員の故フェイス・シャノンによって制作された１０冊のデザイン製本の展覧会です。
「ストーン」の連作はフェイスの長期に及んだ最後のプロジェクトでした。１０冊の本はメイン・ギャラリーに展示され、隣接した部屋では彼女の(制作)ノートと試作品が展示されていました。
私が初めて彼女の作品をみたのはギルフォード・カレッジの学生の時で、彼女の本のデザインの自由な発想に驚いたことを覚えています。その後、DBの催しで２回ほどお目にかかりお話しをしたことがありました。スコットランド西海岸にお住まいだったフェイスにお目にかかる機会は限られていました。
クラフト・カウンシルは最近、改装を済ませました。ワークショップ・スペースと一緒になっているギャラリー・スペースはなかなか素敵です。デザイナー・ブックバインダーズはクラフト・カウンシルのギャラリーで、３回展覧会を行うことになっており「ストーン」はその最初の展覧会です。
